BURROUGHS ARRESTED MULTIPLE COUNTS RELATED TO CHILD PORNOGRAPHY
On February 12, 2024, the Cookeville Police Department received a Cybertip about a Cookeville resident being in possession of child sexual abuse material, also known as child pornography. The Cookeville Police Department detectives assigned to the Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force (ICAC) conducted an initial investigation and gathered sufficient evidence to obtain a search warrant for a residence located in Cookeville, TN.
On June 28, 2024, ICAC investigators with Cookeville Police Department executed a residential search warrant on Roger Burroughs’ residence in Cookeville, where multiple electronic devices were seized. Forensic examinations of the seized devices yielded evidence of multiple crimes.
Subsequently, Roger Burroughs (64) was arrested on July 24, 2024, and charged with 9 counts of Sexual Exploitation of a Minor, a Class D Felony, 4 counts of Aggravated Sexual Exploitation of a Minor, a Class C Felony, and 1 count of Soliciting Sexual Exploitation of a Minor, a Class E Felony. He was booked into the Putnam County Jail with a bail set at $425,000.00.
