BURXIE A. COPELAND, AGE 92

Burxie Allen Copeland, age 92, of Crossville, was welcomed into the loving embrace of our Heavenly Father on September 22, 2023. The daughter of Herman and Vina (Breeding) Allen, Burxie was born August 17, 1931, in Gainesboro, Tennessee.
Burxie was a devout Christian, actively involved with her church family, teaching Sunday School for many years and serving her community through fellowship. She was an exemplary mother to her four children; raising them with unwavering faith, love, and compassion.
Burxie worked in banking and finance for 40+ years before beginning her career as Cumberland County Trustee in 1974. She held this elected position until her retirement in 1990. Burxie was an avid reader and quilter, creating beautiful keepsakes for family and friends. She was a longtime member of Bethlehem Baptist Church.
Burxie was preceded in death by her husband: Glenn Copeland; grandson: Jacob Copeland; son: Rick Copeland; husband: Dean Buckner; and step-daughter: Terri Buckner Sitton.
Burxie is survived by her daughter: Vickie Copeland Houston (Wayne); son: David Copeland (Sarah); and son: Tim Copeland (Retha), all of Crossville. She was a loving MeMa to 8 grandchildren: Kellie Sherrill (Ed), Lesley Bailey (Rob), Jason Copeland (Daisy), Brandon Copeland (Jennie), Tiffany Kirby (Donald), Journey Houston, and James David “J.D.” Copeland. Burxie has 9 great-grandchildren. Burxie is cherished by many special friends and family, including her step son-in-law: Robert Sitton; and step-grandson: Jason Sitton.
The family would like to give special thanks for the compassionate care provided to Burxie by Carol Miller and family; Joanne Cobb and Emily Cole; Tonya Reagan (Affordable-Assist Private Care); and the caregivers with Gentiva Hospice.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday September 27, 2023 at 11 a.m. at Hood Funeral Home in Crossville. The family will receive friends on Tuesday September 26, 2023 from 5 until 8 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be in Green Acres Memory Gardens.
