CAMPBELL COUNTY DETECTIVE INDICTED FOR SEXUAL EXPLOITATION OF A MINOR

In Campbell County, Tennessee, Zachary Bryce Daugherty, a detective with the Campbell County Sheriff’s Office (born September 16, 1998), has been indicted on one count of aggravated sexual exploitation of a minor. The charges stem from an investigation by the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation’s (TBI) Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) Squad, which began after the TBI received a tip in October from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children (NCMEC).
The tip involved multiple files of child sexual abuse material (CSAM) being distributed to and from a Discord account, which investigators traced to Daugherty as the user. On March 11, 2026, a Campbell County Grand Jury returned the indictment, leading to his arrest and booking into the Campbell County Jail on a $75,000 bond. Following the arrest, the Campbell County Sheriff’s Office immediately fired him.
Authorities emphasize that these are accusations only, and Daugherty is presumed innocent unless proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt through due process.
The TBI, as part of the Tennessee ICAC Task Force, encourages reporting of online child exploitation via their Tipline (1-800-TBI-FIND) or the NCMEC CyberTipline, and provides resources on online safety through their website and Netsmartz.org.
