CAMPBELL COUNTY SHERIFF HOSPITALIZED; IN STABLE CONDITION
Campbell County Sheriff E. Wayne Barton was hospitalized following a medical emergency that occurred at his home. According to an announcement from the sheriff’s office on Monday, he was transported to the hospital where he is currently receiving care and remains in stable condition.
While the specific nature of his medical issue has not been disclosed, the office emphasized that there will be no interruption in services, with Chief Deputy Cody Chapman and the command staff overseeing daily operations to ensure all community services continue consistently and effectively.
Sheriff Barton, an East Tennessee State University graduate with a extensive background in law enforcement, was elected to lead the office in 2022. The sheriff’s office has requested that the community keep Barton and his family in their thoughts and prayers during his recovery.
