Funeral Services for Captola Hendrixson, age 98, of Monterey, Tennessee, will be conducted on Monday, July 21, 2025, at 1:00 PM from The Chapel of Goff Funeral Home.

Rev. Matthew Finchum will officiate with interment to follow in the Whittaker Cemetery.

Ms. Hendrixson was born on Friday, June 10, 1927, in Monterey, Tennessee, to the late Lonnie V and Audra May McDonald Norrod.

Ms. Hendrixson passed away on Thursday, July 17, 2025, at her home.

Ms. Hendrixson was a training manager and supervisor with Ely & Walker for 33 ½ years, supervisor with Aqua Tech for 2 ½ years, assistant manager at DeArbo for 2 ½ years, worked at Jess Williams’ Dry Cleaners, and Ray Norrod’s Bowling Alley. She was a member of First Baptist Church since the age of 15 where she also served as director for approximately 8 years of XYZ’s (Extra Years of Zest) Women’s Bible class. She was the first president of Monterey Jaycettes in the 1950’s. She loved sewing of any kind, piecing quilts, quilting, flowers, birds, snow, and was a wonderful cook.

She is survived by,

daughter, Donna Alred of Monterey, TN

granddaughters, Amy Noel Welch, Carrie Audra (James) Delong, Wendy (James) Mallett

8 great grandchildren

nephew, Ricky (Marcia) Norrod of Knoxville, TN

great niece, Wendy Michelle-Hedeen’

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Wayne Turner Hendrixson; brother, Thomas Ray Norrod; and 3 year old sister, Juanita Norrod.

The family will receive friends at Goff Funeral Home on Monday, July 21, 2025, from 11:00 AM until time of services at 1:00 PM.
