CCHS SENIOR HOLLEY SHAW WINS AMERICANISM ESSAY CONTEST

Cumberland County High School Senior Holley Shaw won the Fleet Reserve Association (FRA) Branch 294 12th grade division Americanism Essay Contest. Her essay will move on for further competition at the district, state, and potentially national levels. She and other winners were honored by the FRA Branch 294 members at their meeting yesterday (Saturday, February 8, 2020).

Earlier in the fall, 7th through 12th graders were invited to submit a 350-word or less essay centered around the theme “What My Vote Will Mean to Me” to their local FRA Americanism-Patriotism National Essay Contest competitions. Holley’s essay was selected as the 12th grade 1st place winner from those submitted to FRA Branch 294 in Crossville.

This is a national contest sponsored by the FRA to promote a spirit of patriotism among America’s youth.

9th grade – Candace Shelton of Clarkrange High School

10th grade – Kaylea Fields of Clarkrange High School
