CCHS’S MARLEIGH GARGAC PICKED FOR STUDENT ENGAGEMENT COUNCIL

CCHS Student Marleigh Gargac was recently selected to The Tennessee Department of
Education (TDOE) Student Engagement Council (SEC). The council is a group of 11th
and 12th grade students who provide feedback to the TDOE with input from students to
support academic achievement and postsecondary and career readiness across the
state. The SEC’s goal is to help improve academic achievement and career readiness
for students in Tennessee.What does the SEC do?
• Provide input: The SEC provides the TDOE with feedback and recommendations
on programs and initiatives.
• Support students: The SEC helps students prepare for postsecondary education
and careers.
• Collaborate with the TDOE: The SEC meets virtually with the TDOE to discuss
topics and make recommendations.How does the SEC operate?
• The SEC is a virtual group of volunteers.
• The SEC meets regularly to discuss progress and recommendations.
• The SEC has no administrative, legislative, or programmatic authority.Who can join the SEC?
• Current 11th and 12th grade students who are passionate about K-12 education
in Tennessee are eligible to apply.
