CHRISTOPHER LUNA GUILTY ON TWO COUNTS OF MURDER
GUILTY OF 2 COUNTS OF FIRST DEGREE MURDER
VICTIMS: Lyndzy Bounds and her unborn child.
This morning, Christopher Jacob Luna, appeared before the Criminal Court of Putnam County and entered a plea of GUILTY to the charges for which he was indicted.
1. The first degree premeditated murder of Lyndzy Bounds, age 23;
2. The first degree felony murder of the unborn child of Lyndzy Bounds.
Luna was sentenced to serve a LIFE sentence in the custody of the Tennessee Department of Corrections.
The case was set for a jury trial to begin next month on January 21, 2025 which is now unnecessary since the Defendant has entered a guilty plea.
On Sunday, February 6, 2022, Christian Jacob Luna, shot Lyndzy Bounds multiple times in the doorway of her apartment as she stood in her sock feet. Luna then immediately fled to the State of Louisiana where he was arrested at the home of his Grandparents and brought back to Tennessee for prosecution.
Christian Luna and Lyndzy Bounds had been in a dating relationship. She was pregnant at the time that Christian Luna shot and killed her. Luna’s actions also caused the death of their unborn child.
Lyndzy Bounds’ family members were present for the entry of the plea this morning. Her sister Bianca Hawlik addressed the court by giving a victim impact statement. She described to the court what a great loss her family has suffered in losing her younger sister and best friend.
