Clarence Garrett, 87
Clarence Garrett, age 87, passed away peacefully on June 18, 2026 at Signature Health Care of Fentress County. Clarence was born on September 18, 1938, the son of the late Rev. Wilburn Garrett and Avo Garrett of Mt. Helen Tn. Clarence is survived by his two sons, Jon Garrett and wife Lisa Garrett of Jamestown, Tn and Scott Garrett and wife Amber Garrett of Oak Grove Louisiana. Grandchildren, Peyton Garrett, Lauren Garrett, Joshua Garrett, Riley Connell (Jaelynn Connell), and Allybeth Connell. One brother, Willard Garrett of Jamestown, Tn. One Brother-in-Law, Darrell Moody and wife Norma Moody of Allardt Tn. Two sisters in law, Geraldine Moody and Mary Moody both of Jamestown Tn, along with a host of loving friends, nieces and nephews.
Clarence was preceded in death by his loving wife, of 55 years, Sharon Garrett. His parents Rev. Wilburn Garrett and Avo Garrett. Sisters, Lela Choate and Lena Stephens. Brothers, Winford Garrett and Claude Garrett, Brothers-in-laws, Larry Moody and Rondal Moody. Mother of Peyton Garrett, Billie C. Garrett and Special Friend, Lloyd Hinds.
Clarence lived a life marked with his faith, kindness, devotion to those he loved, and it was marked by his strong relationship with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. He honorably served in the United States Army before turning to work for United States Postal Service until he retired.
Clarence was truly the “epitome of humility” showing modesty, self-awareness and respect for others He had the special qualities of both wit and humor that everyone loved. Clarence was a very simple man that truly lived out his testimony while teaching his family about importance of putting God first. His love for family, God and Country was never questioned. His smile and presence will be missed by many.
Funeral Services are set for Saturday June 20, 2026 @2:00 pm at Jennings Funeral Home Chapel in Jamestown with Bro. John Gunter officiating. Burial will follow in the Fentress Memorial Gardens with a Military Service at Graveside provided by American Legion Post 137.
The family will receive friends on Saturday June 20, 2026, from 11:00 am to 2:00 pm for time of service.
Pallbearers include Keith Copeland, Ken Miller, Bobby Stockton, Walt Clayborn, Rod Hinds and Greg Choate.
Honorary Pallbearers include Jim Taylor, Sam Beaty, James Williams, Zeb Qualls and Perry Reynolds.
In Lieu of flowers. the family request donations to the United Wesleyan Church Building Fund and they can be left at Jennings Funeral homes.
Jennings Funeral Homes of Jamestown is in charge of services for Clarence Garrett of Jamestown.
