COACH BACKS OUT OF OLIVER SPRINGS JOB, WILL STAY IN FLORIDA
BBBTV12 – OLIVER SPRINGS, Tenn. — A coaching move that would have brought a veteran football coach to East Tennessee is no longer happening.
Blountstown High School head coach Brad Waggoner has decided to remain in Florida after previously accepting the head coaching position at Oliver Springs High School.
Waggoner had announced earlier this month that he planned to step down and return to East Tennessee to be closer to family. However, after reconsidering, he says he will stay with the Tigers.
According to the Panama City News Herald, Waggoner said, “After some reflection and prayer, Blountstown is where my family and I want to be. I love these kids, and I love this community.”
The decision means Oliver Springs will now continue its search for a new head football coach.
Athletic Director Tony Kegley said that he wishes Waggoner the best of luck. He said that they will go back to the drawing board and do their due diligence in bringing in the next head coach of the Oliver Springs Bobcats.
Waggoner has built a strong program at Blountstown, posting a 20-and-5 record over two seasons, including a run to the state championship game last year.
