When it rains, it will pour!

The listening area is seeing much needed rainfall to try to put an end to a drought. The first part of the rain tonight is from a cold front pushing into the area. The second part tomorrow will be courtesy of the remains of Tropical Storm Olga.

Reports from an Air Force Reserve Hurricane Hunter aircraft this afternoon indicate that maximum sustained winds of Olga are now near 40 mph with higher gusts. Olga is expected to merge with the cold front and become a post-tropical low with gale-force winds during the next few hours before the center reaches the Gulf coast.

Tropical-storm-force winds extend outward up to 90 miles mainly to the northeast of the center. Satellite wind data and surface observations indicate that a large area of gale-force winds is occurring to the west of the cold front that is currently just west of Olga.

What should be Tropical Depression Olga will be right over Memphis by 1 p.m. tomorrow then push its way into Michigan Sunday afternoon.

Rainfall amounts on the plateau of Tennessee is expected to range from 2-4 inches between tonight and early Sunday morning.

Motorists are asked to use extreme caution while driving during rainfall.
