COOKEVILLE HOTEL FIRE ON EASTER SUNDAY

On April 9th around 6:30 PM, Cookeville officials were dispatched to the Best Western Thunderbird Hotel for reports of a room on fire and a female victim still inside the room.
Cookeville Fire Fighters arrived as police officers were pulling the female victim from the room on fire. She was carried down to a Putnam EMS unit, treated & transported to CRMC, and eventually flown to Vanderbilt University Medical Center for further care.
The hotel room was on the second story in room 230 and according to Cookeville Fire Fighters, they were able to contain the fire within 15 minutes.
The victim has been identified as 53-year-old Gloria Geer of Sparta. The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
