COOKEVILLE POLICE INVESTIGATING SHOOTING

The Cookeville Police Department continues to investigate a shooting this morning. Initial reports say 22-year-old Jacob Govea told authorities he was approached by a male outside his home in the 700 block of North Franklin Avenue who fired six rounds at him from a handgun. Govea was hit twice in the upper torso.

The alleged gunman remains at-large.

Police are searching for a Caucasian male, standing 5’ 8”, wearing black pants, an orange sweatshirt, blue gloves, a toboggan, and sunglasses.

Govea was transported to Cookeville Regional Medical Center and later transferred to Vanderbilt Medical Center. His condition is not known.

Law enforcement had several roads blocked looking for the shooter.
