CORDLESS HEDGE TRIMMERS RECALLED; 16 INJURED

On June 12, 2025, approximately 113,000 RYOBI 40V 24-Inch Cordless Hedge Trimmers (models RY40620VNM, RY40602VNM, and RY40602BTLVNM) were recalled in the U.S., along with 15,000 units in Canada, due to a laceration hazard. The trimmers’ blades can unexpectedly activate when only one control (safety or trigger) is pressed, instead of requiring both to be engaged simultaneously.
This issue has led to 27 reported incidents, including 16 injuries ranging from minor to severe lacerations. Consumers are urged to stop using the affected trimmers, identified by specific serial number ranges on the data plate, and visit https://www.ryobitools.com/recall to verify if their unit is recalled.
TTI Outdoor Power Equipment Inc., the importer, is offering a free replacement trimmer, with a pre-paid return label provided, and no proof of purchase is required. The trimmers, manufactured in Vietnam, were sold at Home Depot, Direct Tools Factory Outlet, and online at homedepot.com and directtoolsoutlet.com from March 2021 to January 2025 for $90 to $160.
