Late Sunday night, Cumberland County deputies received a report of an apparent assault in cell 162 of the Cumberland County jail. The victim had been brought in on a driving offense and was subject to sexual aggression by his cellmate, 27-year-old Christopher Michael Lopez of Crossville. When the victim pushed Lopez away, Lopez struck him in the face multiple times, causing a black eye and busted lip. Lopez was charged with felony aggravated sexual battery and placed under $25,000 bond. He’s due to appear in court on this charge February 11.
