CROSSVILLE URGES CITIZENS TO TAKE PART IN PINK OUT TOMORROW

The City of Crossville is urging citizens and business owners to take part in ‘Pink Out Day’ tomorrow and to wear pink to raise awareness for Breast Cancer.

According to the Young Women’s Breast Cancer Awareness Foundation, the first pink out occurred on October 30th, 2009 in memory of Terry Alvino Meyer who was diagnosed with breast cancer in her late 30s.

She passed away in June of 2009 before her son could enter his freshman year of high school.

The first Pink Out would see 42 Pennsylvania schools participating.

Those wishing to participate in the event are encouraged to wear pink attire; host a pink-themed event at schools, workplaces, or community centers; donate to breast cancer charities or research organizations; share information; participate in fundraising activities such as charity walks or auctions; and to honor survivors and remember loved ones lost to the disease.
