CUMBERLAND COUNTY FARM BUREAU WOMEN ANNOUNCE “GIVE BACK PROGRAM”

As part of the Tennessee Farm Bureau Federation’s 100 Years celebration, the Cumberland County Farm Bureau Women has announced they will be participating in the “Farm Bureau Gives Back” program.
This program has been rebranded from the “Fill a Ford” campaign but serves the same purpose. The program is used as a tool to promote agriculture, raising awareness and helping local charities. The Cumberland County Farm Bureau Women will be focusing on the local Back Pack program in an effort to fight hunger for elementary children.
The Covid-19 pandemic has created an even larger problem for children that don’t get enough to eat at home. For some children, their school meals may be the only meal they eat so with schools being closed so much because of the pandemic, the need is even greater. The goal is to collect nutritious, easy-to-prepare food to send home with the children.
Food items needed should be non-perishable food items that are single serve or have multiple, individual servings as well has being as nutritional as possible. Some suggested items include applesauce, crackers, past, soup, beef jerky/sticks, granola and cereal bars, juice boxes, mac-n-cheese, raisins, ramen noodles, pork n’ beans, and snack cakes.
Food donations are being collected Monday through Friday between the hours of 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Cumberland County Farm Bureau Office at 855 West Avenue in Crossville. Monetary donations will also be accepted if you prefer not to do the shopping. Donations will be accepted through March 31, 2021.
