CUMBERLAND COUNTY FIREFIGHTERS RESPOND TO TWO CRAB ORCHARD FIRES

Last night, at 6 p.m., Cumberland County firefighters responded to a report that a transformer had caught fire on Junior Cox Rd. in Crab Orchard. When they arrived, they found a powerline that was, at one point, arcing on the road.
By the time they arrived, the line had stopped arcing. They stood by until crews with Volunteer Energy Cooperative arrived to repair the transformer and secure the line. They stayed for around 45 minutes on the scene.
However, only a few minutes after they left, they had to respond to another fire in Crab Orchard, this time regarding a structure fire at Godsey Rd.
An abandoned single-wide trailer that had been vacant for ten years and didn’t even have electricity going to it somehow caught fire last night at around 8 p.m. Firefighters arrived and the trailer was completely engulfed in flames. 1,000 gallons of water were used to put the fire out, but the building was unfortunately burned to the ground.
No one was hurt, and the cause of the fire is currently unknown.
