Virtual Learning Plan

2024-2025

 

TCA 49-6-3004 states school districts are allowed to utilize 2 virtual learning days during times of inclement weather. These days will serve as a school day and not have to be made up. This is an option that Cumberland County Schools is choosing to utilize these days for the remainder of the 2024-2025 school year.

 

Below are the expectations of Cumberland County Schools virtual learning days:

 

Grades PreK-8 :

When possible inclement weather is forecasted, the schools will be notified. Teachers will need to send home additional assignments for students to complete.

Teachers will need to make contact with each child and family during “virtual learning day” to address any concerns or issues the student may be having with the assignments. It can be via email, telephone, or communication app such as: BAND or REMIND. Documentation of the contact shall be recorded.

NOTE: You may meet electronically using Google Meet, ZOOM, or Microsoft TEAMS with the family on their personal device as these students do not take their 1:1 devices home. Students cannot be penalized for being unable to meet.

 

PreK-8 Special Area/CCTE Teachers:

These individuals can be paired with a classroom teacher to assist OR they can reach out to students with their own assignments. Documentation of contact shall be recorded.

 

Grades 9-12: All subjects

When possible inclement weather is forecasted, the schools will be notified. Teachers/administration will need to try to ensure that students take home their Chromebook.

Teachers will post assignments to their Google Classroom for students to complete. Teachers will need to make contact with each child and family during “virtual learning day” to address any concerns or issues the student may be having with the assignments. A Google Meet should be conducted at the time of the beginning of each class period. Documentation of the contact shall be recorded. Students cannot be penalized for being unable to meet.

 

Special Education and English Second Language Teachers:

Shall make contact with students on their caseload if at all possible. This contact shall be documented.
