CUMBERLAND SCHOOL BOARD TO VOTE ON MIDDLE SCHOOL IMPLEMENTATION TOOL
The Crossville Chronicle reports that the Cumberland County Board of Education will meet on October 23 at 6 p.m. in the Central Services building in Crossville to vote on adopting a “Cause and Effect matrix” tool, designed by BOE Chairman Scott VanWinkle, to evaluate options for implementing middle schools.
The spreadsheet-based tool outlines key considerations and aims to narrow the focus to the top three viable options, enabling informed decision-making by the special committee and board, with a proposed completion target of May 2026. The agenda also includes discussions and votes on a transportation and academics update, the annual compliance report, TISA accountability goals, and first readings of eight policies related to travel, facilities, unmanned aircraft, equipment, transportation, and insurance.
Additional items cover building and grounds updates for several schools, Universal Screening District Data, third-grade English/Language Arts performance by district, a director’s report from Rebecca Farley, and a financial and sales tax report from Kim Bray.
The consent agenda features three budget amendments, five policies on second reading, seven overnight field trips, eight school-wide fundraisers, and three surplus property disposals.
Public comments are welcome with a sign-up sheet and a three-minute limit per board policy, and the full agenda is available online.
