DALE JACOBS, AGE 77
Dale Jacobs was born November 3, 1946 and passed away peacefully
surrounded by his loving family on May 1, 2024. Dale was preceded in death by
his parents (Harry and Dorothy Jacobs) and sister (Sandra Devine). Dale was a
loving husband to his wife, Terry Jacobs, a devoted father to his children, Jeremy
Jacobs (Lorin Bibb) and Annalee Dunbar (Tyler), and a proud papa to Eliza and
Celia Dunbar. As a husband, father, and grandfather, you could not ask for a better
example of devotion to his family.
In addition to being a cherished member of his family, Dale found great joy
in teaching, coaching, and mentoring students and athletes alike for many years in
the Crossville community sports leagues, as well as at Pleasant Hill and
Cumberland County High School. He served as a role model and mentor to many
outside of just his own children through his years of substitute teaching and
coaching. The impact he made on his community has been and will continue to be
felt for years.
Dale’s favorite activities included spending time with his family, talking
with people and sharing stories, watching sports, cooking, reading (especially
science fiction), and writing. One of his favorite writing activities was to ask his
students what type of story they would like and what they would like it to be about.
He took great joy in creating fictional stories based on real people and settings.
Quick witted with a great sense of humor, Dale always had a joke at the
ready. He could sometimes be shy to start the conversation, but once it got going,
Dale had a plethora of stories from his years traveling and working many different
occupations and businesses that he loved to share with others. He also loved all of
the animals that Terry and Jeremy rescued and brought home over the years, many
of which adopted him as their person.
Dale will be forever missed by his family and friends, and we look forward
to the joy of meeting him again in Heaven one day. Upon his request, the family
will hold a private graveside service.
