Danny Lee Metcalfe passed gently from this world and into the next on October 20, 2023. He was the son of Hulon Lee Metcalfe and Edna Dean Rayder (Cates). He was born on May 17, 1954 in Rockwood.

He is survived by his wife of 51 years: Barbara Metcalfe; sons: Jay Metcalfe (Kobie) of Rockwood and Chris Metcalfe (Amy) of Rockwood; sisters: Lisa Jolly (Kendall) of Rockwood and Sissy Burgess (Paul) of Harriman; brother: Jackie Metcalfe (Sandra) of Houston, Texas; grandchildren: Olivia Metcalfe, Cadence Metcalfe, Griffin Metcalfe, Lexi Metcalfe, Abbi Metcalfe, and Landon Metcalfe; great-grandchild: Jade Violet Grace Metcalfe; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and extended family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his mother and father: Hulon Lee Metcalfe and Edna Dean Rayder Cates; brothers: Jim Cates and Ronnie Metcalfe; and his granddaughter: Reagan Grace Metcalfe.

Danny was a public servant who had a long career in fire and safety, serving as a Rockwood fireman, a fire and safety officer for Morgan County Regional Correction Facility, and a fire inspector for the State of Tennessee. Danny Metcalfe loved two things in this world more than anything else…family and fishing.

The family will receive friends on Wednesday, October 25, 2023, from 5 until 6 p.m. Eastern at Evans Mortuary in Rockwood. A celebration of life service will follow. A private interment will be held at a later date per his request. Evans Mortuary in Rockwood is serving the family.
