Darlene (Smith) Fletcher

Mrs. Darlene (Smith) Fletcher passed away Friday, May 20, 2022, at the Cumberland County Hospital in Burkesville, Kentucky having attained the age of 80 years, 8 months & 5 days. She was born in Canton, (Fulton County), Illinois on Monday, September 15, 1941, the daughter of Jimmy & Mary (Smith) Smith. She was a Christian Lady & a member of the Burkesville Congregation of The Church of Christ, Graduated from Burkesville High School, class of 1959, and was a Receptionist & Secretary for the Kentucky utility office in Eminence, Kentucky for over 30 years. She & Don lived in Eminence from 1963 to 2007. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Donald Lee “Don” Fletcher, whom she wed Friday, January 4, 1963, and he passed away on April 9, 2007, her infant brother, Joseph Smith, & her sister, Viola Hurd.

She is survived by her Daughter, Damita Louise Fletcher (& Scott) Proffitt of Bowling Green, Kentucky,

Grandchildren, Matthew Scott Proffitt of Houston, Texas, Morgan Elizabeth (& Easton) Proffitt-Davis of Princeton, New Jersey, Siblings, Louise (& Sherman) McCoy of Burkesville, Betty Cary of Burkesville, Donnie (& Sharon) Smith of Indianapolis, Indiana, Ann (& Bobby) Jaggers of Greenfield, Indiana, Sisters-in-law, Frances (& Jimmy) Perry, Mildred Fletcher, & Norene Riddle, Brother-in-law, Jerry (& Connie) Fletcher, Nieces & Nephews, Jay Cary, Greg Cary, Tina Collins, Joey Hurd, Michiel Smith, Michelle Shorter, Paul McCoy, Ryan Jaggers, Shirley Bryant, Connie Jo Vanderpool, Parker Perry, Tonya Franklin, Randy Fletcher & Scott Fletcher, and a host of Cousins and friends.

The Funeral service will be conducted on Tuesday, May 24, 2022, at 11:00 a.m. in the Memory Chapel of Norris-New Funeral Home with Bro. Jeff Vibbert officiating. Burial will be in the Burkesville Cemetery. The family will receive friends after 3:00 p.m. Monday, May 23, until the funeral hour on Tuesday at the funeral home. If you so desire, contributions may be made to the Burkesville Cemetery in her memory. Norris-New Funeral Home in Burkesville, Kentucky is honored to be in charge of the arrangements.
