DATA SHOWS CUMBERLAND COUNTY ONE OF THE HIGHEST RATES OF UNEMPLOYED IN STATE

Data released today states holiday employment that ended at the start of the new year is one of the leading factors that caused an increase in county unemployment rates across Tennessee last month.

Ninety-three of Tennessee’s 95 counties experienced an uptick in unemployment during January.

Meigs County came in with the highest unemployment in the state at 5.7 percent. Bledsoe County was 90th on the list at 5.4 percent followed by Cumberland County at 5.2 percent and Pickett County at 5 percent.

The current rate for Fentress County is 3.9 percent, Morgan County is 4.5 percent, and Roane County is 4.1 percent unemployed.
