Graveside Funeral Services for David Hacker, age 87, of Sparta, Tennessee, will be conducted on Thursday, September 10, 2026, at 2:00 PM at the Hacker Cemetery.

Daniel Buttram will officiate with interment to follow.

David was born to the late James “Jim” and Fannie Fields Hacker on Tuesday, December 20, 1938.

David is survived by his wife of 46 years, Cathie Bowman Hacker; sons and daughters-in-law, Gary and Melissa Hacker, Dan and Carol Hacker; and daughter, Hannah Hacker. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, James Hacker in 2011. He is also survived by a host of family and friends.

He passed from this life on Monday, September 7, 2026, from natural causes while working in his apple orchard.

David was a born and bred woodsman. He worked in the timber business as soon as he could and never stopped. He spent his life providing for and loving his family.

From Leslie County, Kentucky, to Sparta, Tennessee, David lived a very long and fruitful life doing exactly what he wanted to do. He spent the latter years of his life watching wildlife and taking walks with his and Cathie’s dog, Ollie. He loved being on the mountain and there is where we will lay him to rest with his son, James.

The family will receive friends at the Hacker Cemetery on Thursday, September 10, 2026, for Graveside Funeral Services.
