Sharp – David Michael “Crash” Daugherty, age 67, went home to be with the Lord on June 28, 2025. He passed away with his family by his side.

David was the fourth child born to Litton and Audrie Daugherty and a lifetime resident of the Oliver Springs area. He is preceded in death by his parents and grandparents: Luther & Mary Daugherty and Charles “Driver” & Bonnie Coker Coday.

David leaves behind his loving wife, Laura, of 43 years, and his two children, Cody Nicole Kitts, and Joshua David Daugherty as well as his son-in-law, Chris Kitts, and his daughter-in-law, Hannah Daugherty. He was also affectionately known as “Poppop” to his two grandchildren, Mackenzie Grace Kitts and Carter David Kitts.

He is also survived by his siblings: Bruce (Vicki) Daugherty, Pat (Barry) Stiltner, and Billy “Duff” (Mickey) Daugherty as well as his nieces and nephews: Matthew Stiltner, Jason Stiltner, Nathan Daugherty, Erin Forgette, Drew Daugherty, and Ashley Kitchings along with 16 great nieces and nephews.

He also leaves behind a host of friends and special cousins: Vernon (Wanda) Phillips, Dickie Hite, and Frankie Hite as well as his brother-in-law Sam Kitchings and sister-in-law Leona Kitchings.

David was a Journeyman Ironworker and a proud member of the Ironworkers Union Local 384 for over 40 years. He retired from ironworking in 2009. He worked on various structures in the Knoxville region throughout his career. He also enjoyed gardening, fishing, and building projects such as the home he and his wife have shared for almost 20 years.

The family would like to express their gratitude for the outstanding services provided by Quality Private Duty Care and a very special thank you to Danielle Bennett, RN for her exceptional care during this difficult time.

Above all, David loved his family more than anything and enjoyed all of the time that he spent with his wife, children, and grandchildren. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends.

Visitation will be Thursday July 3, 2025 from 5:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. Funeral and Burial will be held Monday July 7, 2025 at 11:00 a.m. at Anderson Memorial Gardens.
