On Friday morning, August 22, 2025, a woman discovered severely decomposed skeletal remains in a wooded area behind a McDonald’s at 3300 Dickerson Pike in Nashville’s Hillhurst neighborhood, prompting a death investigation by the Metro Nashville Police Department.

Officers responded around 10 a.m. after the woman’s call, and homicide detectives later found a human skull, also in a deep state of decomposition, approximately 100 feet away, closer to the restaurant’s parking lot. The police have not yet identified the victim, determined the cause of death, or confirmed whether the skull and remains belong to the same person.

The investigation is ongoing, with authorities working to uncover the circumstances surrounding the discovery.
