DETAILS RELEASED AFTER DUMPTRUCK OVERTURNED ON I40 FRIDAY IN ROANE COUNTY
Roane County, TN- Interstate 40 just east of the Midtown/Harriman exit was the scene of a terrible crash Friday afternoon around 2:30 which left the driver in serious condition.
The Tennessee Highway Patrol report indicates the driver of a dump truck, identified as 61-year-old Curtis Hill, lost control and overturned the truck where loads of sand were spilled. The truck came to a final rest on the shoulder, where Kingston Fire First Responders and the Rescue Squad extricated the driver from the wreckage.
The driver was taken to the Kingston helipad by ambulance to be transported to the UT Medical Center in Knoxville where he is still listed in serious, but stable condition. The crash also affected the westbound lane when a female driver’s windshield was shattered after the sand spilled into the westbound lane of travel. She did not have any injuries.
No other vehicles were involved, however, traffic through Kingston and portions of Harriman were deadlocked for hours during the investigation and cleanup.
