DID YOU KNOW? REGION EXCLUSIVE FOODS

It’s no secret that several fast food, beverage, and restaurant companies have items exclusive to specific regions of the world. Whether it’s due to dietary differences or using foreign markets to test menu items before international release, there are tons of food items that Americans may be completely unaware of.

Some are weird novelties, such as…

The Real Cheese Burger

The Real Cheeseburger, sold exclusively for a limited time in Burger King locations in Thailand, is literally just a bunch of cheese slices on a bun. Asian markets have a reputation for weird novelty foods, and this one almost feels like a practical joke.

The Banurrito

Or try some of Taco Bell’s exclusive menu items, such as the Banurrito from Cypruss, a fresh Banana coated with Nutella wrapped in a toasted Flour Tortilla, showered in Chocolate Sauce, and topped with Rainbow Sprinkles.

Japanese Kit Kats

But some are real eye-catchers, such as the varieties of Kit Kat bars you can only find in Japan. Cheesecake, green tea, coffee cream, strawberries and cream, citrus cream!? Why can’t we have these!?

Japanese Pepsi

But if you’re still in Japan and want cracked out, check out some of Pepsi’s foreign offerings. American flavor? What does that even mean? Cucumber? Coffee? Baobab!? Put me down for a mmmmmmmaybe…

The Hoosier Biscuit Bowl

Of course, that doesn’t mean you need to leave the country to experience exclusive food, as Indiana residents in 2022 were able to enjoy this region-exclusive breakfast item featuring biscuits, seasoned potatoes, sausage and gravy, a fresh fried egg, and shredded cheddar cheese. McDonald’s Breakfast Noodle Bowl

How would you like to stroll into a McDonald’s and find a hot noodle dish for breakfast? I might be more inclined to stop by, personally.

Ale-8-One Soda

Here’s one that Cumberland County natives may be a bit more familiar with as it’s closer to our neck of the woods. Ale-8-One soda, straight out of our neighbors in Kentucky. This ginger and citrus drink is largely found in brick-and-mortar stores throughout Kentucky and is bottled in Winchester.

Chocomarsh

Going back to Taco Bell, but this time in Spain for the Chocomarsh. A fairly interesting final entry. Take a crunchwrap, fill it with marshmallows and melted chocolate, and boom. So simple, but I won’t lie and say I wouldn’t take a crack at it.
