DISTRACTED DRIVER STRIKES UTILITY TRUCK THEN RUNS OFF
CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. — A distracted driver struck a parked utility truck on Interstate 75 Monday morning, and then ran away from the scene, leaving his injured passenger behind, according to the Tennessee Highway Patrol (THP).
The incident happened just after 8 a.m. at the 5 mile marker of I-75, a report says.
The driver of a 1993 Honda Civic “was distracted from inside the vehicle,” according to the report, and struck the stationary utility truck. After the crash, the report says the driver ran away from the scene, leaving behind a female passenger in the Civic who was injured. Authorities are still looking for the unidentified driver.
