DOG INVOLVED IN KNOX COUNTY BABY’S DEATH EUTHANIZED
KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WATE) — The dog that fatally injured a 6-week-old Knox County infant in an “out of nowhere” attack has been euthanized, according to Young-Williams Animal Center.
Earlier this month, the child’s mother, Chloe Mansoor, shared with WATE that her son, Ezra had been attacked by the dog on May 24, and was taken to East Tennessee Children’s Hospital where lifesaving measures were attempted. The 6-week-old was pronounced dead on May 30.
On Friday, Young-Williams shared that the dog was euthanized while it was under a 10-day bite quarantine, which is required by state law, after it was “recommended for destruction” by the Knox County Sheriff’s Office and the family gave permission for the dog to be surrendered.
Following the child’s death, the Knox County Sheriff’s Office said there was an investigation open into the case.
