The Dollar General on Highway 111 in Byrdstown will be closed for a few weeks after a fire early Tuesday morning.

Witnesses reported flames and heavy smoke coming from the front right corner of the store. All five Pickett County fire departments responded just after midnight and stayed on scene for some several hours.

The Byrdstown-Pickett County Fire department along with the state bomb and arson department are conducting an investigation to find the cause.  The building suffered minor structural damage and no injuries occurred.
