DRIVER ARRESTED AFTER STRIKING CHILD WITH VEHICLE
The Tennessee Highway Patrol released their report this morning of a child hit by a motorist in Warren County Saturday. It states a 2001 Chevy Silver driven by 21-year-old Juan Jantes-Lopez of McMinnville was traveling south on Highland Road and struck a 6-year-old boy while he was checking for mail. The driver then swerved left crossing into the opposite lane and ran into the ditch line hitting shrubbery and crossed a driveway before coming back onto the roadway. Jantes-Lopez fled the scene, but was located shortly after the crash. He was arrested for vehicular assault, reckless driving, DUI and leaving the scene of an injury crash. The child was taken to a hospital for treatment of injuries including a broken leg and is expected to recover.
