DROUGHT CONDITIONS PERSIST IN THE AREA

Much of Tennessee remains in a drought to some degree. Nashville finished 2023 with 39 inches of rain for the year. It’s the first time since 2007 that the city failed to reach 40 inches. The normal yearly rainfall in Nashville is 50.51 inches.

Crossville finished the year at 50.25 inches of rain. It is 7.28 inches below normal. Weather officials say only 7.10 inches of that total happened over the final four months.

Cumberland County, and much of the Cumberland Plateau, remain in a D3 drought status. The worst rating for a drought is D4.

Drought conditions should persist for at least the next three months.
