BLOUNT COUNTY, US 129/ SR 115 Tail of the Dragon: Due to the one lane condition of Interstate 40 near the Tennessee and North Carolina State Line as repairs continue from Hurricane Helene, this is a reminder for commercial vehicles in Tennessee and North Carolina attempting to use US 129 as an alternate around the I-40 work zone. No trucks with trailers over 30 feet in length, or single units over 30 feet in length are permitted on US 129 “The Dragon” in Tennessee or North Carolina. Thru truck traffic in Tennessee should take I-81 North to Virginia and then take I-77 South into North Carolina. These restrictions of US 129 will be strictly enforced day and night.

HAMILTON COUNTY I-75 at I-24 Interchange Reconstruction Phase 2: Nightly Lane closures will occur on this project, 9 PM to 6 AM, on I-75 North and South between Exit 1 (East Ridge) and Exit 3A (East Brainerd Road/ SR-320) and on I-24 East and West from Germantown Road to Spring Creek Road, MM182 to MM185, for various construction activities. Hamilton Loop Road is closed for retaining wall construction and storm drainage installation between the intersections near Markman’s Jewelers and Texas Roadhouse. REGION 2 Thermoplastic retracing on various interstate and state routes: The contractor will be on site in Franklin County on SR-50 from LM 11.490 – 14.040, Grundy County on I-24 EB/WB from LM 4.500 – 7.310, Marion County on SR-2 from LM 11.760 – 15.230 and Marion County I-24 EB/WB from LM 0.000 – 6.350, and in Bradley County on SR-60 from LM 8.20 – 10.96, SR-2 from LM 20.92 – 20.98. Work will also be in Hamilton County on the following routes: SR-319 from LM 1.99 – 4.33, SR-29 from LM 11.57 – 14.86, SR-320 from LM 1.52 – 3.83, SR-8 from LM 12.45 – 13.96, SR-319 from LM 4.78 – 7.22, SR-317 from LM 1.74 – 3.72, SR-319 from LM 0.00-1.99, SR-2 from LM 5.93 – 7.07, SR-2 from LM 7.41 – 7.98, and SR-2 from LM 8.60 – 10.08. During this work, the contractor will utilize a mobile operation with mobile message boards and an attenuator truck. REGION 2 Various Interstate and SRs – Cable Barrier Repair: The contractor will have short-term shoulder and/or lane closures in order to perform cable barrier rail repair. These closures will take place on the interstate nightly Sunday through Thursday from 7 PM to 6 AM and daily Monday through Friday. At least one travel lane will remain open to traffic at all times.
