EAST TN TEACHER GRAZED BY A BULLET WHEN GUN DISCHARGED IN STUDENT’S BACKPACK
According to the Knoxville Police Department, an investigation is underway after a gun possessed by a student at West High School discharged in a classroom. Preliminarily appears that the gun was in the student’s backpack. A teacher was grazed either by a bullet or a bullet fragment.
The West High School student involved has been charged with reckless endangerment, reckless aggravated assault, and possession of a weapon on school grounds.
Investigation revealed that the discharge of the weapon was not intentional. The weapon discharged in the backpack. The injuries to the teacher were very minor and did not require medical attention.
