Estella Essex 76, of Dayton, Tennessee passed away at her residence Friday, May 1, 2026.

She was born July 9, 1949 in Roane County to the late Ira Lee and Linda West Lawson.  Estella attended school in Roane County. She was a homemaker, loved genealogy, jigsaw puzzles. Her greatest joy was spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Estella attended Highpoint Baptist Church.

Estella is also preceded in death by her husband James Spencer Essex; and her sisters, Joyce Gayle Hill and Linda Marie Essex.

Survivors include her sister Doris Gail Janow, daughter Norma Jean Reese of Dayton, and her sons; Spencer Lee (Dianne) Essex of Evensville, and Tony (Lisa Kubelick) Essex of Dayton. She is also survived by her grandchildren; Logan (Ashley) Jiles, Tiffany Cook and Isaac James Essex; great grandchildren; Sean Cook, Skylin Cook, Lily Essex, Annistyn Jiles, Emersyn Jiles, Dawson Jiles and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be Monday, May 4, 2026 in the Chapel of Vaughn Funeral Home with Rev. Rex Ogle officiating. Interment to follow at Spring City Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends at Vaughn Funeral Home Sunday, May 3, 2026 from 4pm until 7pm and Monday, May 4, 2026 from 1pm until 2pm.
