FATAL CRASH ON HIGHWAY 70 WEST IN LOUDON COUNTY

UPDATE:
A deadly multi-vehicle crash occurred on Monday evening in Loudon County, Tennessee, shutting down Highway 70 West for over an hour. According to the Tennessee Highway Patrol’s preliminary report, the incident took place around 8:30 p.m. in the 400 block of Highway 70 West, between Mealer Road and White Wing Road.
Thirty-five-year-old Benjamin Gonzalez was driving eastbound when he crossed the center line and struck another vehicle head-on. Gonzalez, who was not wearing a seat belt, sustained fatal injuries and died at the scene.
The driver of the other vehicle was transported to a hospital for treatment, though their condition remains unknown. The roadway was closed for cleanup and investigation before reopening shortly after 10 p.m., as confirmed by the Tennessee Department of Transportation. Multiple agencies responded to the scene, including the Lenoir City Police Department, Priority Ambulance Service, Loudon County Fire/Rescue, and the Tennessee Highway Patrol.

Last night, the Loudon County Sheriff’s Office reported that a fatal multi-vehicle crash occurred on Highway 70 West in the 400 block, between Mealer Road and White Wing Road, leading to a full closure of the roadway.
First responders from the Loudon County Sheriff’s Office, Lenoir City Police Department, Priority Ambulance Service, Loudon County Fire/Rescue, and the Tennessee Highway Patrol were all on scene handling the incident.
The highway remained closed for about an hour, with an estimated reopening around 9:30 PM.
