FATAL SCHOOL BUS CRASH IN MEIGS COUNTY REMAINS UNDER INVESTIGATION
The Tennessee Highway Patrol says a fatal school bus crash in Meigs County yesterday remains under investigation. The accident claimed the lives of the bus driver and a 7-year-old child on board. Bus 12-1 was traveling south on Highway 58 when an oncoming Service Electric utility vehicle lost control and went into a slide into the front of the bus. As of 4:15 p.m. eastern today, the accident report has not been released naming the drivers involved. Five children were airlifted to hospitals and two were taken by ambulance. Several others were treated and released at multiple hospitals in Chattanooga, Cleveland, Athens and Rhea County. Officials amended the total in the bus this afternoon to 33. The only adult on board was the driver.
