Federal authorities are asking the public for assistance in identifying potential victims after a 32-year-old Nashville man was indicted on federal child sexual exploitation charges.

Joseph Dalton Bowman faces charges including coercion of a minor, production of child pornography, and traveling with intent to engage in illicit sexual conduct following an indictment by a federal grand jury in the Eastern District of Texas. Bowman was detained after appearing in court, following an earlier arrest in Nashville where police found thousands of files containing child sexual abuse material. He potentially faces up to life in prison.

The Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) Child Exploitation Group and the Frisco Police Department are now conducting a nationwide search for additional victims. Investigators believe Bowman may have interacted with children—either in person or through social media—across nine states. Known areas of potential contact include:

• Tennessee: Nashville, Memphis, Mount Juliet

• Texas: Dallas, Frisco

• Florida: Orlando, Tampa, Lakeland

• Virginia: North Chesterfield, Glen Allen

• Kansas: Mulvane, Caldwell

• New York: New York City, Brooklyn

• Missouri: Kansas City

• Kentucky: Covington

• South Carolina: Myrtle Beach

Authorities specifically noted that Bowman may have used social media accounts under handles such as “snapwithdalton.”

This investigation is part of Project Safe Childhood, a Department of Justice initiative launched in 2006 to combat child sexual exploitation. Law enforcement emphasized that the identities of all minors involved will be strictly protected.
