FIREFIGHTERS BATTLE BLAZE AT ONE OF OLDEST HOMES IN MEIGS COUNTY

The Decatur Fire Department responded to a structure fire yesterday in the downtown district at the intersection of Vernon and Sharon Avenue. This was one of the oldest homes left in Decatur and was originally constructed in 1880. The home was owned by the Decatur United Methodist Church and used as a youth facility. An estimated 75 to 100 thousand gallons of water was used fighting this fire. No one was hurt and the cause of the fire is undetermined at this time.
