FIRST AFRICAN AMERICAN MISS TENNESSEE RECEIVES CROWN
Saturday night’s Miss Tennessee Pageant set a night for firsts. Brianna Mason, Miss Greene County became the first African-American to win the crown. Mason, who is 23, is a first grade teacher, a former Miss Knoxville and is a native of Nashville. She will go on to represent the Volunteer State at the Miss America Scholarship Competition. Another first: The pageant was held for the first time in Knoxville at Thompson-Boling Arena.
