FIVE OFFICERS GRADUATE FROM CRISIS INTERVENTION TEAM TRAINING

The Knox County Sheriff’s Office had five officers graduate from the Crisis Intervention Team training on Friday, September 13, 2024. The Knox County Sheriff’s Office thanks the McNabb Center for this incredible training.
CIT is a 40-hour training course with an approach focused on improving the outcome of incidents involving those who have mental illness and or addiction. Crisis Intervention Team training (CIT) better equips officers to identify signs of someone suffering from a mental health crisis and provides proper de-escalation skills.
There is an inadequate amount of mental health treatment facilities in our immediate area. Therefore, it leaves law enforcement officers acting as first responders to incidents involving a mental health crisis, according to the National Alliance on Mental Illness. This training is invaluable as our mentally ill population grows.
Congratulations to our graduates! The KCSO also thanks Detective Jeremy McCord for his continued Leadership with all of their CIT graduates.
