FLORIDA POLICE OFFICER HELPS SAVE BOY’S LIFE AT DOLLYWOOD

FLAGLER COUNTY, Fla. (WVLT) – An off-duty Florida police officer was recently on vacation when helped save a boy’s life at Dollywood.

According to the Flagler County (FL) Sheriff’s Office, Sergeant Paul DeSousa was at Dollywood with family when he heard cries for help and found a park employee trying to do the Heimlich maneuver on a young boy who had stopped breathing.

DeSousa couldn’t see anything in the boy’s mouth or throat, but he wasn’t breathing, and his face had begun to turn blue.

The sheriff’s office said DeSousa then started performing CPR until a paramedic, who was also on vacation with his family, arrived at the scene to assist.

The two worked together to get the boy breathing again, and color soon began to return to his face. The sheriff’s office said they then stayed with the boy until an ambulance arrived.
