(FOLLOW-UP) – FRESHMAN AT LENOIR CITY HIGH SCHOOL KILLED BY FALLING TREE

(Follow-up story) – The teenager killed by a falling tree Saturday at a home on Virtue Road in Loudon County has been identified as 15-year-old Tyson Porcella. A second minor was injured in the incident.

The sheriff’s department says “neither teen, or anyone who was there at the time of the accident, was doing any type of work to the tree and the cause of the tree falling was a complete ‘act of nature’.”

“There are no words that can ever describe this feeling. Shattered, devastation, pain all seem too empty. We are so overjoyed that God shared this incredible boy with us for almost 16 years. There are no ‘what ifs’ in this situation. God had a plan for our crazy child and now He is holding him so tight for us until we get there. We all hope Heaven has an endless supply of goldfish, that the WiFi never glitches, you always LOVE your hair and that you always know how much YOU ARE LOVED! Please keep our family in your continued prayers and every one of you mamas better hold your babies tight and take every opportunity to tell them how much you love them,” said Julie Porcello, Tyson’s mother.

His obituary is as follows:

Tyson Porcella, forever 15, of Lenoir City passed away suddenly Saturday, May 8, 2021, surrounded by people who love him. Tyson was a freshman at Lenoir City High School and was wholeheartedly involved with Young Life Loudon County. Tyson was baptized and had accepted Jesus into his precious heart. If you knew Tyson, then you know laughter and nonstop goofiness. If you are his friend, then you know the definition of loyalty. He loves so fiercely, and if you needed a friend, he was your guy! Classrooms, club rooms, homes and hearts are going to be a little dimmer without Tyson’s bright light.

Tyson is survived by his parents: James and Julie Porcella; his beloved little sister: Payton; grandparents: Randy and Patty McNabb and Russ and Faye Porcella; great-grandpa: Johnny McNabb; aunts who had a special bond with him: Macy McNabb and Charlotte Gullicksen; and so many other aunts and uncles that love him. Tyson was lucky to have so many cousins that love him: Rusty Joiner, Chris Joiner, Caitlin Joiner, Carson Joiner, Cody Porcella, Collin Kirkland, Charlie Kirkland are just a few of the people that Tyson loves with all his heart.

He was preceded in death by his dear cousin: Timothy Porcella, who we know is waiting to give him a ride on T’s truck; and many dear grandparents and great-grandparents that loved him.
