FOOT CHASE WITH WANTED FEDERAL FUGITIVE RESULTS IN DEPUTY HIT BY CAR
(DEVELOPING STORY) – An Anderson County Sheriff’s Department deputy was hit by a car while in a foot pursuit of a wanted federal fugitive in Oliver Springs last night. Preliminary information indicates Stephen Carroll was airlifted to U.T. Medical Center in Knoxville for treatment of a broken leg, a concussion and lacerations to the head. Surgery was performed and according to Sheriff Russell Barker, Carroll is going good. Authorities say a car driven by 38-year-old James Knox hit Carroll. A passenger in the automobile was also taken to a hospital. No charges are filed at this time. No information was released if the fugitive was located or not.
