Ford is recalling over 694,000 Bronco Sport (2021-2024) and Escape (2020-2022) vehicles with 1.5L engines due to a potential fuel injector defect that could cause cracks, leading to fuel leaks and an increased risk of fire in the engine compartment, particularly if the engine or exhaust components are hot. The issue, under investigation since 2022, prompted Ford’s field review committee to approve recalls in November 2022, March 2024, and March 2025, with initial software updates to address the problem.

Further investigation in April and May 2025 identified corrosion as a factor in fuel injector cracks, with eight vehicles experiencing underhood fires, six of which lacked updated engine control software. No injuries have been reported.
