FORMER DAYTON CITY SCHOOL TEACHER CHARGED WITH CHILD RAPE
A now former Dayton City School math teacher in Rhea County is facing child sex crime charges.
Officials say 48-year-old Michael Scott Arnold resigned from his job Monday.
Arnold posted bond after being processed at the jail on charges of rape of a child and four counts of aggravated sexual battery following grand jury indictments. Court documents state the incidents took place from late 2003 to late 2010 involving a minor younger than 13 at the time.
School officials say Arnold was suspended at the time he submitted his resignation and none of the charges involve students at Dayton City School.
Arnold will be arraigned in court soon.
