FORMER HENDERSONVILLE FIRE CHIEF FACES ASSAULT CHARGES

In Sumner County, Tennessee, a playful high school tradition known as “Class Wars,” where juniors and seniors engage in lighthearted pranks like toilet papering houses and scattering flour on lawns, took a serious turn when a 16-year-old girl was allegedly assaulted by 58-year-old Jamie Cossler, a division chief with the Hendersonville Fire Department.
The incident occurred when students approached Cossler’s Gallatin residence to prank it, and cell phone footage captured him placing the girl in a chokehold, causing bruising and nearly making her lose consciousness. Cossler was arrested and charged with aggravated assault, and he retired from his position the same day.
The girl’s father, speaking anonymously, expressed outrage over the incident and frustration with local law enforcement for not addressing earlier escalations of the prank war.
The case is still under investigation, with the family seeking accountability for the assault.
