FORMER KNOXVILLE POLICE OFFICER INVOLVED IN REVIEW IDENTIFIED

A 25-year veteran of the Knoxville Police Dept. has been identified as being part of an internal investigation involving misconduct. Sgt. Bob Maxwell has been revealed to be part of the official review which solicited a press conference from City Mayor Madeline Rogero and Chief Eve Thomas last week. The misconduct allegations involve a small number of officers and include a formal complaint made against a sergeant who supposedly made inappropriate statements. Although Maxwell is no longer a city employee, he is receiving a pension. Lawyers say that regardless of the findings in the case, Maxwell will continue to receive his pension. Officials say that although the alleged actions are being condemned, they cannot condemn a 25-year veteran of the force.
